Mission Statement

Mission

We are a small group of co-investors currently working toward forming our shared vision of our ideal intentional community. Currently we are writing legislation, shopping for land and recruiting for co-founders and co-investors with complementary skill sets. Once our communal land is obtained, it will be divided into individual homestead plots which will surround our cooperatively owned communal center.  Our communal center will include our shared agriculture, communally operated businesses, meeting spaces, self-care spaces and access to our shared benefits and resources such as meal sharing, tool sharing, vehicle sharing and more. Our communally operated businesses will be ultimately land based and sustainable – using our agricultural surplus to generate income as well as offering consultation and educational services. We endeavor to make all communal products accessible through sponsorship and sliding scale programs to support the greater community outside of our intentional community. Members will be expected to participate in a communal labor accounting system which maintains quotas for labor toward community contribution and community industry. Labor quotas may rise and fall based on our community’s needs, but will always prioritize member’s personal time and well-being. Members may choose to maintain personal businesses or participate in work outside of community as long as community quotas are met and participation within community is valued and achieved. Aspiring members of OMCHEF will create a Land Use Plan for their own leasehold, which the community as a whole must agree to. We aim to maintain aesthetically pleasing, health-promoting environments and intend to create cultural expectations which integrate self-care, therapeutic practices and life cycle support, thereby creating a healthy social environment for all. We believe that through love and respect, we can resolve all issues.
